At the end of 2002, the African countries that had produced the greatest number of refugees and asylum seekers were:
Sudan (475,000), Angola (410,000), Congo-Kinshasa (410,000), Burundi (400,000), Somalia (300,000), Eritrea (290,000),
Liberia (280,000), Sierra Leone (130,000), and Western Sahara (110,000).
